Stories from the Shaza Makkah Hotel

19 Oct 2018

It’s a typical day at the Shaza Makkah Hotel, and we’d like to tell you some stories that can help highlight some of the needs or circumstances you may have faced during your previous travels.

Traveling with Family

The Al Sayed Salam family finished their check-in process just 10 minutes after arriving at the Shaza Makkah Hotel, and they entered their quadruple family room, which connects two separate rooms through a corridor that gets locked from the inside so the family can walk between both rooms in private. After the parents and eldest son were done performing their wudoo’, Mr. Al Sayed Salam told his little ones: “We’re going to go pray now, and you two will stay here in the hotel.” The four-year-old cried in protest, but she stopped when she saw the fun entertaining and educational games at the Shaza Kids’ Club. After seeing that the two girls would be well taken care of, the parents took their eldest son to the Grand Mosque, which is only a few minutes away on foot. After praying, they returned to the hotel where they saw the two young girls behind the glass façade of the Shaza Kids’ Club. In a warm and beautiful moment, both girls raced to hug their parents and tell them about what they had learnt and the fun they had had in the club. The family members then went back to their rooms after the father promised that they’d visit the attractions recommended by the Mustachar at the Shaza Makkah Hotel after getting some rest.

Traveling with Partners

Hussein and Aisha had only been married for a few weeks when they decided to perform the Umrah together for the first time. After a long car ride to Makkah, they arrived at the Shaza Makkah Hotel after midnight. The staff greeted them warmly and proceeded to park their car in one of the hotel’s garages. Afterwards they were handed the key to their junior suite overlooking the Haram Al Sharif, equipped with flowers and candy as they had requested in advance. As Aisha sat in the suite’s living room, she shyly said: “I know it’s three o’clock in the morning, but I’m very hungry. Do you think there are any restaurants open at this hour?” Her husband replied: “Choose whatever you’d like from the room service menu; the receptionist notified me that this service is offered around the clock.” After eating a warm, delicious meal from Midan Restaurant, the couple fell asleep to get some rest before performing the Umrah right after the Fajr prayer.

Traveling Solo

“We’re sorry, Mr. Ahmad, we don’t have a reservation in your name,” said the receptionist at the Shaza Makkah Hotel. “Just my luck! First, the airport loses my bag and now there isn’t a reservation under my name!” Ahmed replied desperately. To calm him down and soothe his anger, he was offered fresh orange juice so he could catch his breath. After some inquiries, it turned out Ahmad had booked his room through an intermediary website for hotel reservations. The booking manager explained to him that the best way to book was directly through the Shaza Makkah Hotel website or to call the booking department. He immediately booked a luxury grand deluxe room and introduced Ahmad to one of the employees, saying: “This is your Morafik; he will track down your lost bag from the airport and will do what’s necessary to get it here.” Reassured, Ahmad went to his room to get some rest but was surprised when a housekeeping employee knocked on his door to offer him a comfortable robe for sleeping, along with a free coupon for cleaning his clothes. After a warm shower, Ahmad received his clean clothes and lay down on his cozy bed in the comfortable robe, dreaming about a beautiful tomorrow.
